# 👋 Brian James Production Systems & Reliability Engineer Infrastructure • Incident Response • Root Cause Analysis • Operational Proof I operate and maintain production-facing systems with a focus on stability, failure containment, documented remediation, and repeatable operational proof. My background in industrial automation translates directly into digital production environments: identify failure, isolate cause, restore uptime, document recurrence prevention, and improve the system so the same failure is less likely to repeat. I’m also building Nightcoder Designs as a live production and product proof system: a public-facing business environment where infrastructure, documentation, product/service work, and public proof artifacts evolve together. ## 🏗 Live Production Environment I maintain a Cloudflare-fronted Linux-based web environment used as a continuous operations and product proof lab. Environment includes: - Cloudflare DNS / TLS edge layer - Linux-based hosting - WordPress + WooCommerce application stack - Git-based documentation and release workflows - Version-controlled infrastructure documentation - Structured change logging and incident documentation - Automated offsite documentation backups through Git workflows - Defined security and publishing boundaries - Public proof artifacts derived from sanitized operational work All meaningful changes are documented and versioned. Commit history reflects operational discipline and iterative refinement. ## 🚧 Current Build I’m currently building Nightcoder Designs around a product/service proof path. Recent focus: - **Site Care Ops Kit v1** — a documentation/reporting system for WordPress site care operators - **Care Reports** — a service bridge for turning maintenance work into client-facing proof - **Public proof artifacts** — sanitized operational documentation showing architecture, monitoring, reliability, and change-control discipline - **Private ops kernel** — structured operational memory, launch control, product roadmap, and proof queue The goal is to turn messy production reality into structured systems that can be maintained, explained, reused, and trusted. ## 🔎 Public Proof - [`nd-ops-public`](https://github.com/brianjames829/nd-ops-public) — sanitized operational artifacts, architecture overview, monitoring/security alignment case study, publication policy, and product/service proof notes. More public artifacts will be added only after review and sanitization. ## 🧭 Current Focus - Log-driven incident analysis - Production stability and recurrence reduction - End-to-end troubleshooting across application, infrastructure, and edge layers - Change control and reproducible workflows - Security-aware system configuration - Documentation systems that create operational memory - Public/private proof boundaries - Product/service execution built from real operational discipline ## 🛠 Active Technical Stack ### Infrastructure & Operations Linux (Ubuntu 24.04) • Cloudflare (DNS / TLS / Edge) • Git • GitHub • Bash (operational scripting) • WordPress/WooCommerce operations ### Monitoring & Analysis journalctl • Hosting logs • Cloudflare analytics • external uptime monitoring • structured incident review ### Reliability & Security Root Cause Analysis • Failure-Mode Analysis • Access Control Principles • Change Control • Structured Remediation Logging • Public/Private Documentation Boundaries ### Product / Documentation Systems Markdown • DOCX reporting templates • file-based operating systems • documentation workflows • client-facing report structures ## 🧠 Engineering Approach I structure work around: - clear problem definition - scoped boundaries - reproducible workflows - explicit assumptions - documented tradeoffs - failure-mode analysis - measurable remediation steps - public/private separation - proof from finished work Production work is iterative. Stability improves through disciplined logging, controlled change, and closing the documentation loop after real work happens. ## 🧾 What I’m Proving My work focuses on turning messy production reality into structured systems: - incidents into root cause records - maintenance into reports - operational notes into proof - private workflows into sanitized public artifacts - system constraints into better design decisions - troubleshooting experience into reusable products and services ## 🤝 Collaboration Open to collaboration in: Preferred contact: LinkedIn ## 🌐 External Profiles LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/brianjames829 Credly: https://www.credly.com/users/brianjames829 CodeHawks: https://profiles.cyfrin.io/u/brian0xpi Website: https://nightcoderdesigns.com
